Leak Detection Services
for Commercial, Industrial, and Municipal Clients
OES Underground Leak Detection Services
At OES, we specialize in pinpointing hidden water or sewer leaks for commercial, industrial, and municipal clients in the Southeast US. By leveraging cutting-edge detection technology such as acoustical and correlator leak detection methods, we help prevent costly damage, minimize environmental impact, and optimize resource consumption.
OES Underground can also provide long-term programs performing leak surveys to help clients reduce their overall non revenue water which in turn will save money and improve service reliability.
What is Acoustical Leak Detection?
Acoustical leak detection is a non-invasive method used to identify leaks in pressurized piping systems, such as water mains, fire sprinkler systems, and industrial pipelines. It involves listening to the sounds emitted by a leaking pipe to pinpoint the exact location of the leak.
How Does Acoustical Leak Detection Work?
To find a leak, we use highly sensitive equipment to listen. Why? Because a leak in a pressurized pipe causes vibrations, which in turn generate high-frequency sound waves. These sound waves travel through the pipe and the surrounding soil or structure (such as a foundation). We use sensitive acoustics to detect these sound waves. The collected data are analyzed using specialized software so we are able to determine the location of the leak source without damaging infrastructure or digging.
Benefits of Acoustical Leak Detection
Early Detection
Identifies leaks before they cause significant damage.
Reduced Water Loss
Minimizes water loss and operational costs.
Environmental Impact
Conserves water resources and reduces environmental impact.
Precision
Pinpoints leak locations accurately, reducing excavation and repair time.
Non-Disruptive
Minimal disruption to operations and infrastructure.
What is Correlator Leak Detection?
Correlator leak detection is a sophisticated technique used to pinpoint the exact location of leaks in underground pipelines. It involves the use of specialized electronic devices called correlators, which analyze the sound waves produced by a leaking pipe.
How Does Correlator Leak Detection Work?
A leak in a pressurized pipeline causes vibrations, which generate high-frequency sound waves. These sound waves travel through the pipe and the surrounding soil and structures. OES strategically places extremely sensitive acoustic sensors all along the pipeline to detect these minute sound waves. Once detected, the correlator analyzes the time difference between the arrival of sound waves at different sensors. Then, it precisely calculates the time difference and the distance between the sensors, thereby determining the exact location of the leak without so much as deploying a shovel.
Benefits of Correlator Leak Detection
Accurate Leak Localization
Pinpoints leak locations with high precision.
Reduced Excavation
Minimizes the need for extensive digging, saving time and money.
Environmental Impact
Reduces environmental damage caused by unnecessary excavation.
Early Detection
Identifies leaks before they lead to significant water loss or property damage.
Increased Efficiency
Streamlines leak repair processes.
What Can OES Leak Detection Services Do for You and Your Organization?
Acoustical and correlator leak detection methods are versatile techniques that we can use on a wide range of systems. They can be used to locate leaks in water distribution systems, including water mains and service lines; industrial pipelines for oil, gas, and chemicals; fire protection systems like sprinkler systems and fire hydrants; and district heating and cooling systems with underground pipes.
By employing the latest in leak detection technology, OES can help utilities and industries effectively manage their infrastructure, reduce water loss, and minimize environmental impact. To learn more about our leak detection services, call or reach out to us today.
